My Approach

Education & Training

In my practice I use a combination of evidenced-based treatments to help clients reach their individual goals. These treatments include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). We will discuss which method of therapy will be most helpful for your concerns.

MERIT is a newer modality developed through Indiana University created specifically to help individuals with psychosis regain a sense of self. It has since been used to treat other conditions, as well. I use elements of this therapy in my work and I am the only clinician in Tennessee certified in MERIT.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Alabama in Sociology and Women's Studies. I obtained my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2021. I completed my practicum and internship at Brightquest Treatment Centers working mainly with Schizophrenia, Autism, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I completed post-Master's training for licensure at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where I was exposed to many complex difficulties including prolonged Schizophrenia, chronic neurological illnesses, and difficult family dynamics.
